What is the book that changed your life? What would you recommend to a mentee or a mentor? What book would you take with you on a deserted island?
I started by asking my classmates what book would they give a mentee if they were in a mentoring program. Then, I realized, my family and friends are also great resources for this project as well. Here's what I've compiled so far:
Rachel Ayala
Jose Banda and Maria Edith Trevino

Christy Esparza
Carolina Lopez

"I received this book from my mentor 5 years ago when I graduated with my Bachelor's Degree. When I opened my present and saw the the book, I thought that it was a silly, fun book to add to my collection. But once i took the time to sit down and read the book, it all made perfect sense. I feel like, Oh, the Places You'll Go! is a perfect sendoff for children, 1 to 100, entering any new phase of their lives. Dr. Seuss celebrates in the potential everyone has to fulfill their wildest dreams in his choice of words: "You'll be on your way up!, You'll be seeing great sights!, You'll join the high fliers, who soar to high heights." At the same time, he won't mislead the the pitfalls of life: "You can get all hung up in a prickly perch. And your gang will fly on. You'll be left in a Lurch." In this book, Dr. Seuss, is convinced "98 and 3/4 percent guaranteed" that success is imminent. "

"I like this book because it reinforces what we have learned in the EDTC courses at UTB: becoming an effective instructor in the online environment. This book provides very specific strategies that can be implemented by any instructor who wants to deliver a positive learning experience in an online course."

"One book, which had a profound effect on me personally and professionally. "
